Different Ways to Wear a Scarf

Scarves are perfect for keeping your neck warm in the cold months; they’re also incredibly stylish and can be worn with a variety of different outfits. However, there are also many other ways you can wear a scarf that doesn’t include putting one around your neck. In this article, we take a look at some of the different ways you can wear a scarf to enhance your outfit.

Around your head as a headband

This style works really well for thin, light and delicate scarves that can easily be tied around your head without looking too bulky. Hair accessories can complete your outfit by tying in different pops of colour and adding an interesting pattern or component to your hair. You can tie a scarf in a bow at the front of your head or tie the bow or knot at the back of your neck for a more understated look. Try out different scarves you own to find the one that works best as a hair accessory. If a headband isn’t for you, you can use a scarf as a hair band or weave it through a plait for a more interesting hair accessory.

Around your bag

Another great use for thin scarves is to tie them around the handle of your bag. This can make your bag more unique and unusual, as well as make the handle more comfortable to hold. Choose a scarf that matches or complements the colours of your bag and will easily wrap around the handle to enhance the look of your handbag. Avoid big bulky scarves, as these won’t work very well in this specific application. A scarf can work wonders to disguise a well-worn bag handle so you can get more use from your bag before you need to replace it.

As a crop top

Many large thin scarves can be worn as crop tops when they’re folded in the right way. For this to work, you’ll need a scarf that’s relatively wide and made from a thin material. The best way to work out how to use a scarf as a top is to follow video tutorials on YouTube or Tick Tock; if you search for a scarf as a crop top, you will get lots of video results that show you different techniques for achieving this look. Many people choose scarves that have a fun pattern or design that will go with the rest of their outfits. Just remember to secure the top tightly to avoid it falling off and causing you embarrassment when you’re wearing it out of the house.

As a face warmer

Scarves are great for keeping your neck warm, but they can also be wrapped around your face to keep you warm on extremely cold days. A cashmere scarf is ideal for this use as they’re very warm, soft, comfortable and breathable, so you won’t have to struggle to breathe through the material. Remember that you can wrap your scarf around your neck, and your face can keep you from becoming very cold in extreme weather temperatures.

As a belt

Another great way to use a scarf is to tie it around your waist or weave it in your trouser loops and use it as a belt. Again this use for a scarf works best with scarves made from a thin material that can be bunched up to provide the right effect. Try adding a bow to the front to add another element to the belt you’ve created. This application is not only stylish, but it can also be practical and get you out of tricky situations. For example, if your trouser zip or buttons break when you’re out, you can use your scarf to hold up your trousers and ensure you remain modest and don’t have your underwear on display.

Scarves are versatile accessories that can be worn in many different ways. Whether you want to keep your neck warm, add a pop of colour to your outfit, or even use it as a belt, there is a scarf-wearing style for everyone. Scarf-wearing styles can vary depending on the season, occasion, and personal style. With so many different ways to wear a scarf, you are sure to find a style that you love. So get creative and have fun with your scarves.
